BATHING IN THE TREES AT THE HUMMINGBIRD MIGRATION REVIEW OF 9 9E

Hi Everybody!!
Look who I found in top of a tall tree, basking in the morning sunbeams! They are usually difficult to see this high up, but this one was moving and puffing up his feathers for an air bath. In the photos below of 9 9 E, you will see the birds in their natural environment (the trees). This big old oak tree is in my front yard hanging over Kates Cabin. Due to all the shade, it takes longer for the sun to stream down to ground level, so it is normal to see the birds fly up to meet the sun on cool mornings. I just get to sit here and take it all in! Enjoy!

The hummer is on the dead branch on the right tiny branch.

Now you can see his head in the sun as I zoom in.

They look around all the time.

He is preening his feathers with the long beak.

I see one red dot showing he is a juvenile ruby-throated hummingbird just getting his rubies!

Keep you eye on the spot where he is as I zoom out.

Can you still see him?

Okay, zoomed out all the way-told you it was a big tree! He is just above.

And here is Elvis! (Full Red Gorget)

He is one handsome bird and reigning King around here!

Here is Elisabeth (getting fat)

She is on the yaupon tree.

All fluffed up on a chilly morning.

...this is brendasue signing off from Rainbow Creek.  See you next time!
