THE GANG IS HERE! HUMMINGBIRD MIGRATION CONTINUES ON SEPTEMBER 6

Hi Everybody!!
Hail! Hail! The Gang's all here.........yes, more birds arrived overnight. Today's photos of September 6, will reflect crowds at all feeders. It is difficult to get an exact count of the tiny visitors. They are easier to count in the photos when they are still! At this point, there are 30 feeders around the grounds. Ten birds hovering around each feeder would be around 300 birds. I notice the increase more by how many times a day the feeders need to be refilled. Of course, with more birds came more bees. The new bees have longer tongues to reach the nectar in the feeders and they can suck it up! I have turkey platters of sugar water on the ground for the bees also. Low humidity plus lots of sunshine equals great day for taking photos of many birds. Enjoy!

Good Morning!

THE HUMMINGBIRD MIGRATION REVIEW OF SEPTEMBER 5 AT KATES PLACE

Hi Everybody!!
Today we are reviewing the highlights of September 5 at Kates Cabin Bird Sanctuary (aka: my place). Some of you may see the hummingbird pics in the G+ Stream and wonder why a 'birdbrained', crazy, old woman is posting everyday highlights of the hummingbird migration to Social Media.  I simply want to raise awareness of birds, birding, and the hummingbirds especially. Mostly, I want to share the joy my Mom found in these migrating birds. Affection for other living things is important to your well being and your creativity. The Social Media is the current History Books. What do you want remembered?  Enjoy!

THE HUMMINGBIRD MIGRATION REVIEW CONTINUES ON SEPTEMBER 4 AFTERNOON

Hi Everybody!!
Today we are reviewing photos from September 4 afternoon. In real time, the next pic is from yesterday, October 28, when one bird flew in. So the migration is still in progress with September 21 and 22nd being the dates with peak bird activity. In different locations, the timing will be slightly different. Most of the birds that visited here are already in Mexico for the winter. The miles these tiny birds accumulate each year is more than (most) humans travel in a lifetime! I am happy to see so many people fascinated with the hummingbirds. The best is yet to come, so stay tuned!  Enjoy!
