INTRODUCING LUCY'S NEW BABY BUZZARD AT KATES CABIN

Hi Everybody!!
Lucy is a Black Vulture who lives in this dead tree across the road from my driveway. She has a nesting place on the ground which I cannot see. I thought she had a baby, but I never see them until they are old enough to fly. These birds do not have a voice box, so they do not sing. They hiss like cats! Anyway, today's photos are of Lucy and her new baby as they preen and hang their wings out. Still raining here from Bill, but the birds and I are fine. (Thank you all for your concern). Enjoy the baby!

TROPICAL STORM BILL CAME TO TEXAS!

Hi Everybody!!
My last post was about flooding at the end of May.  In real time, I have been offline from Google Earth to help my best friend weather a storm in her personal life as her husband died suddenly without warning.  I did alot of cooking for a big family and was happy to offer my gift of comfort. I came home to another storm: Tropical Storm Bill, who arrived suddenly and left me 10 inches more of flooding rain! Rainbow Creek has jumped its banks again. I am jumping back onto Google Earth and leaving all the storms down on Planet Earth! So, hello I missed you all, my photofriends. Today's pics are the first of the outer band clouds to arrive at my place on a beautiful sunny day. Enjoy!

THE LAZY, HAZY, CRAZY DAYS OF SUMMER HAVE BEEN POSTPONED UNDER THIS STRAWBERRY MOON OF JUNE

Hi Everybody!!
"Well, it is flooding down in Texas", as Stevie Ray used to say. The lazy, hazy has been removed leaving only crazy days right now (in real time). After 4 years of drought, Texas received 4 years of record rain in 4 weeks. The strawberries would have been ready this full moon, but they floated away down Rainbow Creek along with the plums and peaches that were ripped from their branches. The creek jumped its banks and took away the flowers I was planting and the veggie seeds. I was out trying to save stuff and one leg went down in quicksand to my knee and stole my flip flop!  The birds and I are battered and bruised, but so thankful I live on a little creek instead of the Brazos River where things are much worse. Thank you all for your concern and prayers. As we leave this month of May, we enter into a dry and hot June. Happy Summer!
Your photostudy today is of Elvis preening and leaf bathing. Enjoy!

ps-I will answer my mail, my friends, and sorry for delay. Love to all!!!!!
