THE HANDICAPPED BUZZARD, CASSIDY, HOPS ON AND THRIVES!

Hi Everybody!!
Today we are taking a break from the Hummingbird Migration and looking in on Cassidy Buzz.  Cassidy is a handicapped buzzard who either hatched out with a broken leg or had an accident in early babyhood.  Now, we all know in Nature, injured animals do not usually make it.  However, little Cassidy is learning to function with the daily supervision of her Mom. The photos below are from  August, but happy to report she is still here and has learned to sit in the tree and watch the hummingbirds!  The Hummingbird Migration Review returns tomorrow with the September photos. Enjoy!!

Cassidy is leaning on the wood border of the flowerbed to help shift her weight off the good foot.

She is coming out from under the water fountain to get some food and water.

She hops very well now.

She has clean water everyday on the ground so she can reach it easily.

She rests under the water fountain.

This is my Mom's Memory Garden where this buzzard has found Sanctuary.

I hear alot of commotion and found Cassidy up here in this tree.

She is being attacked in her chest by a mockingbird.

The little monster is attacking her then flying to the other side and repeating.

The Mockingbird is screeching and diving attacks.

Cassidy is doing nothing as he hits here over and over.

He is one mean bird and poor Cassidy does not fight back.

I could no longer watch this assault, so I threw a rock and knocked him out of tree.
He did not come back.
