A few battered butterflies arrive at Kates in March. Four years ago, there were hundreds of butterflies here, now this year I have had 4. Where have all the butterflies gone? Drought has likely caused some of the decline in this location, but the big culprit is Poison. Everything that kills mosquitoes also does in the butterflies. I encourage you to stop buying and using insecticides. There are natural ways to deal with insects rather than succumb to the manipulation of people who sell the poisonous chemicals for profit. I hope you will join me in trying to save the butterflies by planting their favorite flowers and just saying "NO" to poison. Enjoy!
