Hi Everybody!!
This is the spring flower of the paw paw tree. Pollinated, usually by flies, a paw paw fruit will develop and drop on ground when ready. You simply walk around and pick them up to eat the fruit! Fruits are soft, with custard-like consistency and easy to remove seeds. These trees are found in the Southeast United States woodlands near water. They prefer to grow under tall trees and multiply from the roots to make the clonal paw paw patch. Below you will find a link to more info on this unusual tree. I enjoy my paw paws and suggest you try some. Enjoy!
