LUNCHTIME AT THE HUMMINGBIRD MIGRATION HIGHLIGHTS OF 9 24 B 1
Hi Everybody!!
Today's Special: Sugared water! I melt the granulated sugar with boiling water, stirring until completely dissolved. Then, the bottles are kept in the fridge until needed. Mom never had over 10 feeders, but she had to refill them so many times a day at the peak of the migration. I changed the routine by hanging 30 feeders and refilling twice a day. Either way, it is still alot of sugar water consumed by the tiny birds! The nectar helps their high metabolism, but little white flies are the protein source they adore. Of course, there are flowers everywhere. The hummers feed on both feeders and flowers, but they do not swarm the flowers like they do the feeders. Today's photo review below is from 9 24B1. Enjoy!
