THE BOTTLEBRUSH TREE BLOOMS IN APRIL AT KATES CABIN

Hi Everybody!!
A treat for your eyes today with the new blooms on the Bottlebrush Tree. I planted this tree last year, in honor of my G+ photo friends, +david  and +Jane Wilson  over in Scotland. I have trees planted for many of my internet friends in my 'Google Garden'. I sit out in this spot to take my photos and write this Blog. I am happy to be part of the new possibilities of global friendships, thanks to Google. I really enjoy seeing all your Nature photos around where you live. Together, we are raising awareness of Nature, our Earth and each other. Enjoy!

I AM A SURVIVOR OF THE HUMMINGBIRD MIGRATION-JANUARY 2015 UPDATE

Hi Everybody!!
Well, here he is making his January Update:  The Winter Hummer! Yes, all the other hundreds of hummers left last September and October for Mexico. This guy stayed here for the winter! He is a juvenile male, ruby-throated hummingbird. The ruby dots on his gorget are still growing in. I have named him the 'Lone Ranger'. He has become the ultimate survivor of Texas Winter! While a blizzard rages up north, Spring rolled into Rainbow Creek! Ranger has become the guard hummer of the Bird Sanctuary. He is throwing a fit over the spring migrant songbirds like the goldfinches, which he chases off! The male cardinals have begun singing all day while the girls sit on the first nest of Spring. I love waking up to these sweet songs. Enjoy Ranger!

DREAMS ARE MADE OF DAYS LIKE THIS AT THE HUMMINGBIRD MIGRATION HIGHLIGHTS OF 9 25 D

Hi Everybody!!
With Blizzard Warnings for people in New York and Maine on 1 26, I feel certain they are day dreaming of a day like the one reflected in pics of  9 25! This was a dreamy, slow afternoon in the warm glow of the sun. The hummers seem to linger at the feeding ports now that many birds have left. I seem to be glued to the chair, trying to catch these golden moments and hold on to them. Most birds leave the cold north and fly south for the winter. The hummingbirds are safe and warm in Mexico, far away from the blizzard. I imagine they have frozen margaritas in their feeders! Stay Warm and Enjoy!
