Hi Everybody!!
You are just in time for a little snack of sunflower seeds at the seed feeder! Just a reminder to hang a bird feeder or scatter seed for the birds who are in various stages of the Spring Migration. These cardinals and squirrels are the 'Official Welcoming Committee' for the bird sanctuary. When the migrants see the bright red flag of feathers, they are likely to make a stop over for a snack, so keep your local backyard birds happy! Also, shared below are more pear blossoms My spring has been on hold for a week of cloudy, rainy weather. Waiting for the Sun! Enjoy!

TODAY'S SPECIAL: COLD CARDINALS WITH SUNFLOWER SEED!

Hi Everybody!!
A stroke of luck sent the winter storm slipping to the east of me, so I had no ice or sleet here overnight! The temps are now above freezing. I quickly ran out to scatter seed for the birds and saw the winter hummer as well as the woodpecker in nest. The cardinals are hunkered down and not singing. This afternoon, the bright, red birds will come out for their sunflowers seeds as the cold seems to make them very hungry. Be sure to put out seed for the birds in your area and some fresh water! Your photostudy today is of cold Cardinals snacking on sunflower seeds! Everybody stay warm and have positive thoughts.   Enjoy!

MY FUNNY VALENTINES: THE CARDINALS

Hi Everybody!!
Happy Valentine's Day from Kates Cabin Bird Sanctuary and I hope you all enjoyed your day. We had a fantastic Spring Day here in S. Texas with blue skies and sunshine. Everyone was in a 'party' mood, so I scattered the sunflower seeds and cardinals came from everywhere! Shared below are my funny little valentines. The males are valentine red and the females are golden brown. They have all begun nesting the first batch of eggs. The males sing all day while the girls sit on the nest. When it is warm, they take a break to snack on seeds! Enjoy!
